About Q Switch Nd YAG Laser
Nd YAG (Neodymium-doped Yttrium Aluminium Garnet) is a crystal commonly used in solid-state laser systems. In this structure, the neodymium ions (Nd³⁺) act as the active laser medium, replacing a small percentage of yttrium ions due to their similar size. These dopant ions are responsible for the laser’s energy output. Operating primarily at a wavelength of 1064 nm, the Nd:YAG laser is capable of penetrating deeper layers of skin tissue, making it ideal for targeting underlying concerns. When operated in Q-switched mode, the laser emits two specific wavelengths—1064 nm for deeper tissues and 532 nm for addressing superficial skin lesions. Q-switching enables the laser to deliver short, high-intensity pulses, enhancing its effectiveness for a range of dermatological applications.
